Experience: -Outreach work with local high schools in Starkville, MS -Private tutoring experience. College Honors: -Gamma Sigma Delta -The Honor Society of Agriculture (inducted 2014) -Presented my selected paper, entitled “Farm Subsidy Incidence in the Presence of Bertrand Competitors of Complementary Factors of Production: A Theoretical Approach” to academia peers from major universities such as Mississippi State University, Texas A&M University, University of Florida and University of Arkansas (paper located on ageconsearch) at the 2014 SAEA meeting. About Me: My formal education and practical work experiences are in three disciplines that required equally challenging but different skills and abilities. First, using my problem-solving abilities, in applied research, the problems identified and the solutions evaluated occurred in a theoretical manner. However, in the latter two, hospitality and farming/ranch operations, resolution strategies were promptly implemented to correct for problems identified. In all three environments, I was able to effectively communicate and relate, orally and in writing, to a diverse range of audiences. However, my personality is more akin to interpersonal relationships, thus I excel and consider customer-focused, conversational, and instructional communications my strengths. Furthermore, my practical work experiences in conjunction with my “go-getter” attitude and analytical ability will allow me to find creative solutions to the complex academic challenges. Why I Want To Teach: Merriam Webster defines a teacher as “a person or thing that teaches something; especially: a person whose job is to teach students about certain subjects. However, to me this definition does not even touch the surface, in regards to what it means to be a teacher. I believe as a teacher it is our responsibly to inspire, mentor and guide the next generation towards a bright and successful future.
